Premise: Tsukino Usagi is a high schooler who discovers she wields supernatural moon-based powers and is the reincarnated princess of the long-ago Moon Kingdom. She finds her fellow planetary guardians – named for the inner planets of the solar system – and learns to lead and save the universe.
Is it worth watching?: YES. If you’re an older otaku, this was likely part of your 
introduction to anime. It has a little bit of everything: romance, sentai action, transformation sequences, monsters of the week, magic and young girls in cute sailor outfits.
Breakout character: Tsukino Usagi, better known as Sailor Moon. She starts out annoying but quickly becomes the favorite girl of the group who you root for over everything.
Where it’s going?: The sequel series, Sailor Moon R, focuses on the past and the future of the Moon Kingdom. Sailor Moon’s history is explored and the ramifications of Usagi’s actions in the present on the future come to light.
