Next to my love for Mega Man, I\u2019m also a fan of the Gun\u00addam series. Since 1979, the space mecha ani\u00adme has brought thought-pro\u00advok\u00ading per\u00adspec\u00adtives on issues of human\u00adi\u00adty and war, and has cre\u00adat\u00aded a stan\u00addard for all sci-fi series, espe\u00adcial\u00adly ani\u00adme with sci-fi and mecha ele\u00adments. Through var\u00adi\u00adous series, mer\u00adchan\u00addise (includ\u00ading video games for var\u00adi\u00adous con\u00adsoles) and oth\u00ader media, Gun\u00addam and its stu\u00addio, Sun\u00adrise Inc., has secured its place among the GOATs of glob\u00adal pop cul\u00adture. Lyn\u00add\u00adsey and I have also tak\u00aden a lik\u00ading to the Dynasty War\u00adriors game series. I thought: \u201cWhat would hap\u00adpened if a Dynasty War\u00adriors game was made with Gun\u00addam ele\u00adments?\u201d I got my answer in Dynasty War\u00adriors Gun\u00addam 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

In DWG3<\/span>, you play as a cho\u00adsen indi\u00advid\u00adual who has been select\u00aded to a pass a test of skill and deter\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion. Your requests come from a mys\u00adte\u00adri\u00adous Gun\u00addam suit that asks why humanity\u2019s exis\u00adtence in the uni\u00adverse should con\u00adtin\u00adue. This test is con\u00adduct\u00aded in four orig\u00adi\u00adnal sto\u00adry arcs that pair char\u00adac\u00adters from var\u00adi\u00adous Gun\u00addam series such as the MS<\/span> Gun\u00addam, Gun\u00addam Wing, G Gun\u00addam, Gun\u00addam 00, Gun\u00addam Uni\u00adcorn and oth\u00aders who have hero\u00adic, vil\u00adlain\u00adous or neu\u00adtral opin\u00adions to this mys\u00adte\u00adri\u00adous Gundam\u2019s test. These arcs also con\u00adtain side mis\u00adsion that explains each rep\u00adre\u00adsent\u00aded series\u2019 his\u00adto\u00adry, rein\u00adforce a group\u2019s cama\u00adraderie or dis\u00adplays each mobile suit\u2019s spe\u00adcial abilities. <\/span><\/p>\n

Con\u00adtrol of these suits is easy whether you use the PlaySta\u00adtion 3\u2019s ana\u00adlog sticks or con\u00adtrol pad. Shoot\u00ading and melee attacks are flaw\u00adless, and good con\u00adtrols help to pull off some dev\u00adas\u00adtat\u00ading com\u00adbos to dri\u00adve oppo\u00adnents back for a moment. In true Dynasty War\u00adriors form, your char\u00adac\u00adter will have a part\u00adner or part\u00adners with sim\u00adi\u00adlar abil\u00adi\u00adties and less\u00ader suits to help take down cer\u00adtain key areas of stages. I\u2019m sug\u00adgest\u00ading three pieces of advice when play\u00ading: Plan to take places such as repair hang\u00aders, suit fac\u00adto\u00adries and com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion tow\u00aders ASAP<\/span>; know when to team up with your com\u00adrades to take on stronger suit; and, keep an eye on your side map to avoid being lost. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of each stage, your char\u00adac\u00adter will be shown how many expe\u00adri\u00adence points he or she earned and how much gold was col\u00adlect\u00aded. These ele\u00adments help you to earn new skills and more stronger suits. To help your char\u00adac\u00adter out, there is a tuto\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal stage with prac\u00adtice mis\u00adsions that will help them earn more points or to refresh basic skills. <\/span>
\nThe graph\u00adics were designed as if you are play\u00ading in an actu\u00adal Gun\u00addam episode with spe\u00adcial detail giv\u00aden to the suits and their sur\u00adround\u00ading envi\u00adron\u00adments. Nam\u00adco Bandai and Koei did a great job with keep\u00ading the game\u2019s for\u00admu\u00adla sim\u00adple: Keep Dynasty War\u00adriors ele\u00adments intact while adding Gun\u00addam elements. <\/span><\/p>\n

The sound is on point with the addi\u00adtion of Dol\u00adby Dig\u00adi\u00adtal Sound ensur\u00ading that every sound effect stays true to Gundam\u2019s lega\u00adcy of high-lev\u00adel ani\u00adme action. Cred\u00adit should also be giv\u00aden to the Ocean Group for assist\u00ading with voice cast\u00ading, which includ\u00aded some of the orig\u00adi\u00adnal ani\u00adme Eng\u00adlish voic\u00ades per\u00adform\u00ading their respec\u00adtive char\u00adac\u00adters for the game. The replay val\u00adue of DWG3<\/span> is very high and is per\u00adfect for a Gun\u00addam enthu\u00adsi\u00adast or for a friend\u00adly scrim\u00admage at your local ani\u00adme convention.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gun\u00addam is and will always be the absolute stan\u00addard bear\u00ader in sci-fi mecha ani\u00adme. DWG3<\/span> is an exam\u00adple of how to build an ani\u00adme mas\u00adter\u00adpiece and present it for a dif\u00adfer\u00adent medi\u00adum.
