Cool Spot, licensed from Pep\u00adsi part\u00adner <span class=\"caps\">7UP<\/span>, is the excep\u00adtion to the norm. If you\u2019re expect\u00ading a half-baked idea of plat\u00adform\u00ading sole\u00adly because it\u2019s a mas\u00adcot, think again. This romp to release sen\u00adtient lit\u00adtle red dots is actu\u00adal\u00adly not half bad and has genre-redeem\u00ading qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Cool Spot starts off innocu\u00adous enough. Spot must res\u00adcue its friends, who are trapped<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-804\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Cool-Spot-13-300x263.png\" alt width=\"300\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Cool-Spot-13-300x263.png 300w, https:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Cool-Spot-13-343x300.png 343w, https:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Cool-Spot-13.png 672w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\"> through\u00adout 11 lev\u00adels in cages. Why its friends are trapped, we\u2019ll nev\u00ader know but it\u2019s up to Spot to res\u00adcue them and lec\u00adture you about not drink\u00ading dark sodas. Spot\u2019s tra\u00adver\u00adsal through these 11 lev\u00adels is noth\u00ading short of amaz\u00ading despite the ram\u00adpant prod\u00aduct place\u00adment. It\u2019s sur\u00adpris\u00ading\u00adly good, with sol\u00adid con\u00adtrols that don\u2019t make con\u00adtrol\u00adling Spot a chore, and com\u00adpe\u00adtent sim\u00adple mechan\u00adics that don\u2019t get in the way: It\u2019s most\u00adly jump\u00ading and shoot\u00ading mag\u00adi\u00adcal sparks at ene\u00admies and barred gates. The life sys\u00adtem \u2014 hilar\u00adi\u00adous\u00adly denot\u00aded by an ever-peel\u00ading and dete\u00adri\u00ado\u00adrat\u00ading pic\u00adture of Spot \u2014 is more than gen\u00ader\u00adous and there are helper pow\u00ader ups galore to get through lev\u00adels. The lev\u00adels them\u00adselves have a lot of depth and are timed just right with enough time to explore or get the bare min\u00adi\u00admum expe\u00adri\u00adence in the search for Spot\u2019s miss\u00ading friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-591\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Score-4-retrograde.jpg\" alt width=\"90\" height=\"148\">While Spot might be on a prod\u00aduct place\u00adment-filled jour\u00adney, it\u2019s a lush\u00adly drawn trip. Cool Spot is no slouch when it comes to the audio-visu\u00adal depart\u00adment. The back\u00adgrounds are drawn with Spot mov\u00ading through an obvi\u00adous\u00adly human world at about 25 per\u00adcent of the size of every\u00adthing else. It isn\u2019t big at all but the world sur\u00adround\u00ading it is and it shows in the sheer scale, though my only gripe with the game comes here: The back\u00adgrounds, while beau\u00adti\u00adful, are recy\u00adcled except for a few stages. At least the first three stages are repeat\u00aded and reused, just with new stage names and some recol\u00ador\u00ading in&nbsp;spots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">While you\u2019re soak\u00ading up the beau\u00adty of it all, how\u00adev\u00ader, the sound\u00adtrack is rock\u00ading in the back\u00adground. Cool Spot is one of the best sound\u00adtracks for the Super Nin\u00adten\u00addo and should be in every gamer\u2019s library. Mag\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcent pro\u00adduc\u00adtion val\u00adues, crisp audio and nice, deep bass lines make for some inter\u00adest\u00ading tracks that don\u2019t sound like stan\u00addard 16-bit audio. Tom\u00admy Tal\u00adlari\u00adco, pre-Video Games Live fame, put obvi\u00adous love and care into the audio and it shows. It\u2019s one of the best sound\u00adtracks for its&nbsp;time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Cool Spot has a lot to offer in the way of good \u201990s plat\u00adform\u00ading.
