The sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion may have changed slight\u00adly, but the premise is still the same in Kata\u00admari For\u00adev\u00ader, the fifth game in the quirky series. Whether or not you\u2019re into the \u201cif it\u2019s not broke then don\u2019t fix it\u201d method of gam\u00ading will deter\u00admine if you can stand anoth\u00ader trip to the cos\u00admos with a katamari.
\nJust in case you haven\u2019t played a game in the series, let\u2019s get a refresh\u00ader. Kata\u00admari titles involve rolling up a sticky ball with every\u00adday objects to increase the ball\u2019s size. The larg\u00ader the ball, the more pleased some\u00adone is \u2014 usu\u00adal\u00adly the King of All Cos\u00admos. That\u2019s because the king is an idiot and rou\u00adtine\u00adly destroys some\u00adthing relat\u00aded to his job of pro\u00adtect\u00ading the cos\u00admos. His lack of com\u00admon sense and coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adtion usu\u00adal\u00adly means the Prince of All Cos\u00admos \u2014 that\u2019d be you, the play\u00ader \u2014 has to cre\u00adate new stars and recon\u00adstruct the cos\u00admos. This premise has worked for the past four games, and it\u2019s real\u00adly no dif\u00adfer\u00adent sto\u00adry\u00adwise except for the addi\u00adtion of the cousins to help in appear\u00adance only (added in We Love Kata\u00admari) and the fact that the king has been replaced tem\u00adporar\u00adi\u00adly by the Robot King of All Cos\u00admos. Absur\u00addi\u00adty thy name is Katamari.
\nNoth\u00ading has real\u00adly changed, mechan\u00adics-wise, either. There are a few addi\u00adtions to the reper\u00adtoire of the Prince, such as the Prince Hop and the King Shock, but oth\u00ader\u00adwise you\u2019re still rolling along to pick up items to make your kata\u00admari grow. The series isn\u2019t known for its growth and this is a major rea\u00adson why. While it\u2019s easy to con\u00adtrol the Prince and maneu\u00adver the Kata\u00admari, there still should be some inno\u00adva\u00adtion at this point, five games in.
\nThe sound\u00adtrack also suf\u00adfers from stag\u00adna\u00adtion. Kata\u00admari Dama\u00adcy, the first game in the series, was known for hav\u00ading a great sound\u00adtrack. As a mat\u00adter of fact, we\u2019ve laud\u00aded the sound\u00adtrack relent\u00adless\u00adly through\u00adout our lifes\u00adpan at GI<\/span>. But try as we might, we\u2019re still try\u00ading to under\u00adstand why there isn\u2019t as much cre\u00adativ\u00adi\u00adty used in the musi\u00adcal por\u00adtion of a game that con\u00adjures so many dif\u00adfer\u00adent cre\u00adative thoughts. The music of the first game inspired so much, yet by the time of For\u00adev\u00ader, it seems that well has grown dry. It\u2019s still a good sound\u00adtrack, but I was expect\u00ading more from this.
\nOver\u00adall, if you still love pick\u00ading up a con\u00adtroller to save the cos\u00admos and cre\u00adate kata\u00admari, you\u2019ll prob\u00ada\u00adbly be work\u00ading to stop the Robot King of All Cos\u00admos. Oth\u00ader\u00adwise, you\u2019re not real\u00adly miss\u00ading any\u00adthing you haven\u2019t already seen.
