As some\u00adone who has nev\u00ader real\u00adly got\u00adten into the Unre\u00adal series or PC<\/span> shoot\u00aders in gen\u00ader\u00adal, learn\u00ading to run and gun with one of the sem\u00adi\u00adnal shoot\u00aders of our time was and has been a chal\u00adlenge. It\u2019s a chal\u00adlenge in patience and in equi\u00adlib\u00adri\u00adum, most\u00adly because I can\u2019t play old\u00ader first-per\u00adson shoot\u00aders with\u00adout migraines and vom\u00adit\u00ading. So, if a game could per\u00adsuade me to sit down and enjoy the fruits of its mur\u00adder\u00adous labor, then more pow\u00ader to it. Unre\u00adal Tour\u00adna\u00adment didn\u2019t have to try to hard to work that mag\u00adi\u00adcal feat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unre\u00adal Tour\u00adna\u00adment is a patch\u00adwork of ideas found com\u00admon\u00adly in mod\u00adern shoot\u00aders. It\u2019s are\u00adna-based play that requires you to hunt down and elim\u00adi\u00adnate the com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion. That\u2019s not that hard of a con\u00adcept, actu\u00adal\u00adly. You\u2019re giv\u00aden an arse\u00adnal with which to com\u00adplete your reign of car\u00adnage and help\u00adful items such as health and armor boosts. While the con\u00adcept is easy, the num\u00adber of con\u00adtrol options offered can eas\u00adi\u00adly over\u00adwhelm even a sea\u00adsoned shoot\u00ader vet\u00ader\u00adan. Most\u00adly, you\u2019re just look\u00ading for a way to aim and shoot, but there\u2019s about 15 dif\u00adfer\u00adent ways to set up your gun\u00adning exploits in UT<\/span>. There\u2019s a wealth of modes offered, too, and you can\u2019t go wrong with pick\u00ading any of them. It\u2019s nice to be able to prac\u00adtice before jump\u00ading into the main sto\u00adry mode, or play a good Cap\u00adture The Flag match.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the vari\u00adety of modes to run through, the char\u00adac\u00adter selec\u00adtion isn\u2019t all that var\u00adied. Stal\u00adwarts, like Mal\u00adcolm from the orig\u00adi\u00adnal Unre\u00adal, are avail\u00adable but beyond that the char\u00adac\u00adter selec\u00adtion is a lit\u00adtle blah. There are some to be unlocked but the ques\u00adtion remains: Do you want to go through the trou\u00adble of unlock\u00ading a char\u00adac\u00adter that you aren\u2019t going to care about?<\/span><\/p>\n

The sound\u00adtrack is decent, with a few stand\u00adout tracks so there\u2019s some\u00adthing to spice up the dis\u00adap\u00adpoint\u00adment of the char\u00adac\u00adter selec\u00adtion. The graph\u00adics are OK<\/span>, but like that dearth of char\u00adac\u00adters, there isn\u2019t much to get excit\u00aded about. For the trans\u00adla\u00adtion to PlaySta\u00adtion 2, the game plays and looks OK<\/span>. It\u2019s noth\u00ading spe\u00adcial but it isn\u2019t ter\u00adri\u00adble, either. Just don\u2019t expect super impres\u00adsive PC<\/span> quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unre\u00adal Tour\u00adna\u00adment is an inter\u00adest\u00ading exper\u00adi\u00adment. It\u2019s a PC<\/span> jug\u00adger\u00adnaut that tries its hand at acces\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty in the home mar\u00adket and doesn\u2019t fail mis\u00ader\u00adably yet doesn\u2019t entire\u00adly inno\u00advate, either. If you were won\u00adder\u00ading what the hype was all about for the PC<\/span> dar\u00adling, the PS2<\/span> ver\u00adsion is just the right ver\u00adsion to intro\u00adduce you to the world of Unreal.<\/span><\/p>\n
