Pilot\u00ading your dreams in Macross<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As you may not know, I used to want to be a fight\u00ader pilot because of an old car\u00adtoon I saw <\/span>called Robot\u00adech. Then, I was intro\u00adduced to the real series called Macross, and my love for all things that flew was renewed even more. I also want\u00aded to take up engi\u00adneer\u00ading to make the Varitech fight\u00aders I love so much a real\u00adi\u00adty; hell, I may still get that chance one day or some\u00adwhere my designs may help some\u00adone do what I could\u00adn\u2019t in my life\u00adtime. Any\u00adway, we\u2019re here to talk about a game that nev\u00ader made it to the U.S. because of the man who made Robot\u00adech famous and is an out-and-out bad per\u00adson. Macross M3<\/span> is up and its Varitechs, Zin\u00adtredies and mis\u00adsiles, oh my!<\/span><\/p>\n

The game takes place dur\u00ading the time Max was start\u00ading out up till he meets Meria. From then on, you can choose either Max or Meria until the point in the sto\u00adry where their daugh\u00adter is born. Then, you can only choose her as a playable char\u00adac\u00adter. Unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly, I don\u2019t know if you get to play as any\u00adone else because there is a mis\u00adsion short\u00adly after their daugh\u00adter joins U.N. Spa\u00adcy and has a cri\u00adsis of con\u00adscience, which is where my ven\u00adture ends. I\u2019m not sure if there\u2019s a glitch at this point or a choice that is made that can change that. So, I don\u2019t know how the game ends but that does\u00adn\u2019t mean the game isn\u2019t worth playing. <\/span><\/p>\n

The con\u00adtrols have improved com\u00adpared to its pre\u00advi\u00adous coun\u00adter\u00adparts of the VF<\/span>\u2011X series. The graph\u00adics for this Dream\u00adcast title are a lot smoother than the PS1<\/span> games, as well, but you would expect that.<\/span><\/p>\n

The game\u00adplay, how\u00adev\u00ader, seems to present not much of a chal\u00adlenge as its VFX<\/span> coun\u00adter\u00adpart. The learn\u00ading curve may not seem to be there, but it is in the form of a mis\u00adsion where the dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty goes from \u201cOh that\u2019s nice\u201d to \u201cOh god, why won\u2019t you die?!\u201d I did find it fun\u00adny that I ran out of mis\u00adsiles only to dis\u00adcov\u00ader lat\u00ader that they refill over time. Noth\u00ading real\u00adly stands out too much but the graph\u00adics and the sto\u00adry that I can fig\u00adure out is good. Unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly, I was unable to fin\u00adish this game because at the time my grasp of the Japan\u00adese lan\u00adguage was very nonex\u00adis\u00adtent.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last word on this is that it\u2019s a real\u00adly fun game and presents a good time to be had by all. Well, except for the fact that at least that one stage is a pain. My score for the game would be high\u00ader if I was able to fin\u00adish the game and I may still one day. Until then, if it some\u00adhow finds its way to your door, invite it in, have a good time and share a bit of sake with the essence of an old friend.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
