A slight headache<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy is a jum\u00adbled mess of hit or miss eclec\u00adtic ideas<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the 16-bit era, the Gen\u00ade\u00adsis was the first shot fired in a decade\u2019s war against Nin\u00adten\u00addo for the atten\u00adtion of teenage gamers and the cold hard cash of gamers\u2019 par\u00adents. While Sega had Son\u00adic as a mas\u00adcot to counter Nin\u00adten\u00addo\u2019s Mario, there were many unique char\u00adac\u00adters Sega had in their sta\u00adble ready to bat\u00adtle with Nin\u00adten\u00addo if Son\u00adic need\u00aded to take a break. One of those char\u00adac\u00adters was mem\u00ado\u00adrable for chang\u00ading the plat\u00adform genre. His name was Head\u00addy, and his debut game Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy was his big break.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy tells the sto\u00adry of Head\u00addy, a star pup\u00adpet in the Trea\u00adsure The\u00adatre Show. Head\u00addy\u2019s loved by every\u00adone except his rival, Trou\u00adble Bru\u00adin, who believes he should get top billing. In addi\u00adtion to reduc\u00ading Head\u00addy\u2019s pop\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adi\u00adty, Trou\u00adble is a hench bearcat for the evil Dark Demon whose goal is world dom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion by con\u00advert\u00ading oth\u00ader pup\u00adpets to his grow\u00ading army of mind\u00adless min\u00adions. With inno\u00adcent pup\u00adpets and the future of the the\u00adatre in jeop\u00adardy, it\u2019s up to Head\u00addy to stop Dark Demon and Trou\u00adble\u2019s nefar\u00adi\u00adous plans. <\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll admit the graph\u00adics are like a chil\u00addren\u2019s pup\u00adpet show but they are pre\u00adsent\u00aded in a way that\u2019s col\u00ador\u00adful and engag\u00ading. Trea\u00adsure did an excel\u00adlent job with the pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion, keep\u00ading the sto\u00adry of the game sim\u00adple. I did, how\u00adev\u00ader, dis\u00adlike how Trea\u00adsure played with pro\u00admot\u00ading the game and placed ads for their oth\u00ader prod\u00aducts front and cen\u00adter as I played through the first stage. It was super tacky and did\u00adn\u2019t real\u00adly help the game in any way.<\/span>
\nThe con\u00adtrols are slight\u00adly sim\u00adple thanks to the options screen allow\u00ading you to con\u00adfig\u00adure a con\u00adtrol scheme. How\u00adev\u00ader, the con\u00adstant switch\u00ading heads and keep\u00ading up with what but\u00adton does what invoked anger with\u00adin me many times. In the\u00ado\u00adry it looks sim\u00adple, but the exe\u00adcu\u00adtion is off. It\u2019s a lot to remem\u00adber once you get going and drags down the platforming.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe music in the game is OK<\/span>, hav\u00ading its ener\u00adgetic and for\u00adbear\u00ading doom moments but it\u2019s gener\u00adic enough to get by. I did feel though, some\u00adtimes with Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy, that the com\u00adposers were pres\u00adsured to out\u00addo Super Mario World to see which game could have the cutest game music instead of keep\u00ading focus on how the music could be paired prop\u00ader\u00adly with each stage. <\/span><\/p>\n

One of the more non\u00adsen\u00adsi\u00adcal and cringe-wor\u00adthy moments that stuck out to me was nam\u00ading each stage after well-known movies and pop cul\u00adture series. Toyz in the Hood, Stair Wars, Far Trek and Ter\u00admi\u00adnate Her Too were named after the movies Boyz in the Hood, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Ter\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtor 2. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I under\u00adstood that Trea\u00adsure was try\u00ading to seize the moment but should have found oth\u00ader ways to accom\u00adplish the task because it came off as goofy and grat\u00ading, not cute.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy is an inter\u00adest\u00ading and high\u00adly orig\u00adi\u00adnal game that takes chances and some\u00adtimes suc\u00adceeds and some\u00adtimes falls flat. The orig\u00adi\u00adnal\u00adi\u00adty was obvi\u00adous\u00adly a sell\u00ading point because Dyna\u00admite Head\u00addy\u2019s lega\u00adcy endures on main con\u00adsoles and Steam. There are some neat con\u00adcepts here, but some\u00adtimes it needs to get out of its own head.<\/span><\/p>\n
