At this point, we know what Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders is and isn\u2019t. My wor\u00adried brow of con\u00adcern isn\u2019t with get\u00adting a new one but more with the re-releas\u00ades of the tril\u00ado\u00adgy of games and the two sup\u00adple\u00admen\u00adtal games released as upgrades. We know what to expect when it comes to Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders, but as occa\u00adsion\u00adal com\u00adpi\u00adla\u00adtions are released, we have to take a crit\u00adi\u00adcal look at whether it\u2019s worth your time and cur\u00adren\u00adcy to engage in Cap\u00adcom\u2019s release the Krak\u00aden in the form of remakes strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders Res\u00adur\u00adrec\u00adtion aims to do what Cap\u00adcom\u2019s pre\u00advi\u00adous release in Mar\u00advel Origins<\/span><\/p>\n

did: Release two games in the series as start\u00ading points to get you to explore more. Res\u00adur\u00adrec\u00adtion con\u00adsists of two games: Night War\u00adriors: Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders\u2019 Revenge and <\/span>Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders 3. Both games are includ\u00aded in their entire\u00adty as Amer\u00adi\u00adcan arcade ports emu\u00adlat\u00aded on disc with extras added for the home release. Much as with Mar\u00advel Ori\u00adgins, there\u2019s online play and gallery unlocks from chal\u00adlenges added. Every\u00adthing has been giv\u00aden a fresh coat of paint with new\u00ader art and visu\u00adals, which means a lot con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00ading Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders 3 was released in 1997. All of this results in a nice-look\u00ading, souped-up package. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vam\u00adpire Hunter: Dono\u00advan vs. Jon Talbain<\/p><\/div>\n

The game\u00adplay is as clean as it ever was, and because it\u2019s emu\u00adlat\u00aded from the arcade ports, it\u2019s bet\u00adter than any oth\u00ader release that came before it with the excep\u00adtion of the PlaySta\u00adtion 2 Vam\u00adpire Col\u00adlec\u00adtion. Every\u00adthing works the way it should in terms of com\u00adbos and Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders\u2019 noto\u00adri\u00adous\u00adly hard-to-do moveset. The moves land the way you want and there\u2019s no lag. Not\u00ading that this is an accept\u00adable port for high-lev\u00adel com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion, Res\u00adur\u00adrec\u00adtion hits the right spot in terms of playa\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty. If you want\u00aded to know how Dark\u00adstalk\u00aders played in the arcade with\u00adout try\u00ading to emu\u00adlate it with MAME<\/span> or Fight\u00adcade, Res\u00adur\u00adrec\u00adtion is your answer.<\/span><\/p>\n

There real\u00adly isn\u2019t any\u00adthing wrong with Res\u00adur\u00adrec\u00adtion, either. The only annoy\u00ading thing about the game is the fact that it did\u00adn\u2019t sell well. That isn\u2019t the game\u2019s fault, though. This is a tech\u00adni\u00adcal\u00adly sound port of two fan\u00adtas\u00adtic fight\u00ading games that play well and work well in what they\u2019re being asked to do: Be a rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive of a long-dead fight\u00ading fran\u00adchise to intro\u00adduce new\u00ader folks to the Vampire\/Darkstalkers scene. It\u2019s done its job admirably with strong mechan\u00adics and gor\u00adgeous updat\u00aded visu\u00adals. You can\u2019t ask for more from a retro fight\u00ading game. This fan\u00adtas\u00adtic fight\u00ading fright fest deserves more respect for its abil\u00adi\u00adty to shine 25 years after its last release and should scare up a spot in your fight\u00ading game collection.<\/span><\/p>\n
