A Street Fight\u00ader lookalike<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I want to love Street Fight\u00ader EX<\/span> Plus Alpha. I promise, I real\u00adly do. <\/span>
\nIt\u2019s Street Fight\u00ader with\u00adout being Street Fight\u00ader, but that\u2019s the prob\u00adlem. It\u2019s Street Fight\u00ader adja\u00adcent, and it\u2019s not real\u00adly Street Fight\u00ader. There are mechan\u00adics, char\u00adac\u00adters, and oth\u00ader Street Fight\u00adery-type things here that make it part of the brand mys\u00adtique, but this isn\u2019t like the oth\u00aders and that isn\u2019t nec\u00ades\u00adsar\u00adi\u00adly a good thing.<\/span>
\nStreet Fight\u00ader EX<\/span> Plus Alpha starts off lur\u00ading you with the promise of being some kind of \u201cdif\u00adfer\u00adent\u201d Street Fight\u00ader. It has most if not all of Street Fight\u00ader Alpha\u2019s mechan\u00adics and it adds a few more. The most notable addi\u00adtions are the ded\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded Guard Break and can\u00adce\u00adlable super moves. Guard Break here is a stun move that leads to a dizzy instead of open\u00ading an oppo\u00adnent up like in the Alpha series. Super can\u00adcel\u00ading means you can can\u00adcel one super move into anoth\u00ader. Both mechan\u00adics instant\u00adly fresh\u00aden the Street Fight\u00ader II<\/span> well-worn com\u00adbo for\u00admu\u00adla and give it a new feel. The game plays solid\u00adly, akin more to the sim\u00adi\u00adlar\u00adly toned Rival Schools, and when the AI<\/span> isn\u2019t being obnox\u00adious, you can do a lot and feel sat\u00adis\u00adfied about the way it flows.<\/span>
\nThe ros\u00adter is decent and com\u00adple\u00adments the Street Fight\u00ader name. Sure, you have a lot of Street Fight\u00ader vet\u00ader\u00adans and main\u00adstays here like Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li, Zang\u00adief and Ken, but there are some inter\u00adest\u00ading Ari\u00adka char\u00adac\u00adters, too. Doc\u00adtrine Dark and Hoku\u00adto are cool as is Skul\u00adlo\u00adma\u00adnia. The char\u00adac\u00adter designs are nice and make it just a lit\u00adtle bit dif\u00adfer\u00adent from reg\u00adu\u00adlar Street Fight\u00ader with some vari\u00adety and thought put into them.<\/span>
\nWhile I love the ros\u00adter, there is some\u00adthing that grinds my nerves. Note that I said when the AI<\/span> isn\u2019t being obnox\u00adious it\u2019s playable. At this point, we all are aware of how Cap\u00adcom\u2019s AI<\/span> can be in fight\u00ading games. Even on the low\u00adest dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty lev\u00adel, though, it\u2019s not friend\u00adly. There were times I bare\u00adly made it to the fourth fight before I got tak\u00aden out, and I\u2019m a Street Fight\u00ader and over\u00adall fight\u00ading game vet\u00ader\u00adan. It\u2019s hard to gauge if it\u2019s inten\u00adtion\u00adal giv\u00aden that this once began life as an arcade update, but it cer\u00adtain\u00adly has that quar\u00adter-eater feel to it in a bad way.<\/span>
\nWhile I despise the AI<\/span>, I don\u2019t hate the graph\u00adics as much as I should. The pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion, for its time, is good. The back\u00adgrounds are gor\u00adgeous in some stages, and the poly\u00adgons are super blocky and polyg\u00ado\u00adnal. How\u00adev\u00ader, this was 1997, so it\u2019s accept\u00adable giv\u00aden what every\u00adthing else poly\u00adgon-based looked like at the time. Again, as Rival Schools was around at the same time, it\u2019s com\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adble to that game but it does\u00adn\u2019t look quite as good. The sound\u00adtrack is pass\u00adable, much like the graph\u00adics. It was\u00adn\u2019t impres\u00adsive but it was\u00adn\u2019t ter\u00adri\u00adble, either. It\u2019s rem\u00adi\u00adnis\u00adcent of oth\u00ader Cap\u00adcom fight\u00aders at the time, despite this not being devel\u00adoped by Capcom.<\/span>
\nThere was work to be done going from here, and Ari\u00adka did make improve\u00adments. Street Fight\u00ader EX<\/span> Plus Alpha is ser\u00advice\u00adable and a good start, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019d stay in this region of Street Fight\u00ader adja\u00adcent. It\u2019s got enough to get me inter\u00adest\u00aded and going but the AI<\/span> makes this a frus\u00adtrat\u00ading expe\u00adri\u00adence, and it all feels just a lit\u00adtle bit like \u201cwell, we aren\u2019t Street Fight\u00ader, but we can slap the name on and try.\u201d Skip this one and see if there\u2019s a lit\u00adtle more Street Fight\u00ader and pizazz to your lik\u00ading in the lat\u00ader sequels.<\/span><\/p>\n
