Don\u00adald the Explorer<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As a child of the \u201990s, I grew up on the \u201cDis\u00adney After\u00adnoon\u201d car\u00adtoon line\u00adup. All the shows received the video game treat\u00adment for either 8\u2011bit, 16-bit sys\u00adtems or for both con\u00adsoles at the time. I had a Sega Gen\u00ade\u00adsis and won\u00addered when Dis\u00adney would license a game based on a DA<\/span> show for Gen\u00ade\u00adsis. Lit\u00adtle did I know, Sega had license deals with Dis\u00adney direct\u00adly, and like Dis\u00adney games made by Cap\u00adcom, Sega made a game that was\u00adn\u2019t anoth\u00ader \u201cDuck\u00adTales,\u201d but was set in the series\u2019 uni\u00adverse and had its reg\u00adu\u00adlar char\u00adac\u00adters. His name is Don\u00adald Duck, and he made his debut in plat\u00adform gam\u00ading in \u201cQuack\u00adShot Star\u00adring Don\u00adald Duck.\u201d<\/span>
\nIn Quack\u00adShot, Don\u00adald sets out on a trea\u00adsure hunt stretch\u00ading across nine stages. One day in Duck\u00adburg, Don\u00adald vis\u00adits his Uncle Scrooge and while check\u00ading out his library, Don\u00adald stum\u00adbles upon a mes\u00adsage from King Grazuia, an old ruler of the Great Duck King\u00addom who has hid\u00adden his leg\u00adendary trea\u00adsure across the world. Enclosed with the mes\u00adsage is a map that Don\u00adald believes leads to trea\u00adsure that would make him rich\u00ader than Uncle Scrooge. How\u00adev\u00ader, Big Bad Pete and his gang also find out about the trea\u00adsure and set off after Don\u00adald, turn\u00ading the trea\u00adsure hunt into a race to see who gets it first. <\/span>
\nCon\u00adtrol of our dar\u00ading adven\u00adtur\u00ader is sim\u00adple with the d\u2011pad and, com\u00adbined with abun\u00addant options, ensures that you can set up move\u00adment, weapon use and dash\u00ading to spe\u00adcif\u00adic buy\u00adouts. Don\u00adald may have odds against him, but he has some advan\u00adtages with his plunger gun uti\u00adliz\u00ading yel\u00adlow plungers to stop Pete\u2019s hench\u00admen and oth\u00ader foes tem\u00adporar\u00adi\u00adly with an unlim\u00adit\u00aded sup\u00adply, and a reload\u00adable pop\u00adcorn gun that shoots five ker\u00adnels at once. Don\u00adald also has some of the \u201cDuck\u00adTales\u201d crew help\u00ading him: Nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie pro\u00advide trans\u00adporta\u00adtion to each des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion, and Gyro Gear\u00adloose pro\u00advides Don\u00adald with bub\u00adblegum ammo that can break down obsta\u00adcles. The MVP<\/span> weapon in the game is the \u201cquack attack,\u201d which Don\u00adald can use to knock down any ene\u00admies instant\u00adly. I give cred\u00adit to Sega for using Dis\u00adney\u2019s knowl\u00adedge of Don\u00adald\u2019s tem\u00adper. The graph\u00adics and music were excel\u00adlent, live\u00adly, and bright for an appro\u00adpri\u00adate\u00adly spry game.<\/span>
\nThe down\u00adsides to \u201cQuack\u00adShot\u201d are few but are sim\u00adi\u00adlar\u00adly found in most plat\u00adform games. You must ensure per\u00adfect tim\u00ading for Don\u00adald when he either cross\u00ades dan\u00adger\u00adous obsta\u00adcles or per\u00adforms his dash move. Also, mild\u00adly infu\u00adri\u00adat\u00ading is small voice sam\u00adple usage for the char\u00adac\u00adters as this was not only a debut game for Don\u00adald, but also it is set in the Duck\u00adTales uni\u00adverse. There was so much untapped poten\u00adtial for rich, estab\u00adlished his\u00adto\u00adry. Final\u00adly, you can only start the game in Duck\u00adburg, Mex\u00adi\u00adco, or Tran\u00adsyl\u00adva\u00adnia. To pass lat\u00ader stages, you need a par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar item, so there is a lot of back\u00adtrack\u00ading unnecessarily.<\/span>
\n\u201cQuack\u00adShot Star\u00adring Don\u00adald Duck\u201d was one of the games that I start\u00aded off with as a Gen\u00ade\u00adsis own\u00ader. A sol\u00adid plat\u00adformer, it showed that Sega had tal\u00adent of devel\u00adop\u00ading con\u00adsoles and leg\u00adendary games using orig\u00adi\u00adnal and licensed char\u00adac\u00adters. Most impor\u00adtant\u00adly, I got to see anoth\u00ader Dis\u00adney clas\u00adsic char\u00adac\u00adter get his lime\u00adlight in his first video game with a star\u00adring role.
