Blue Bomber relives glo\u00adry days in No. 9<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ah, Mega Man and Dr. Wily. Capcom\u2019s con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtion to video game rival\u00adries have bat\u00adtled through numer\u00adous episodes in the 8\u2011bit, 16-bit and first PlaySta\u00adtion era. These infa\u00admous icons have tak\u00aden their bat\u00adtle of good vs. evil to anoth\u00ader bat\u00adtle\u00adfield: next-gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion con\u00adsoles. Like many fans of the Blue Bomber, I won\u00addered how Cap\u00adcom would present Mega Man and com\u00adpa\u00adny to a new audi\u00adence while keep\u00ading ded\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded fans like myself invest\u00aded in new adven\u00adtures. Mega Man 9 hit the spot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mega Man 9 is exact\u00adly like pre\u00advi\u00adous Mega Man games of the 8\u2011bit era: Easy to play. Using the PS3<\/span>\u2019s d\u2011pad made me feel that I was play\u00ading on the NES<\/span> with sim\u00adpli\u00adfied con\u00adtrols. When Mega Man defeats a Robot Mas\u00adter, he acquires that boss\u2019 weapon which \u2014 along with his Mega Buster \u2014 make up the meat of his con\u00adtrols. I have only two issues with this fea\u00adture: You can\u00adnot use a charged Mega Buster blast like in Mega Man 4; and, you must acquire weapon pow\u00ader-ups to keep the spe\u00adcial weapons run\u00adning prop\u00ader\u00adly. Mega Man does have help in his lat\u00adest adven\u00adture with his help\u00adful canine, Rush, and allies Eddie, Beat and Roll, who sup\u00adply spe\u00adcial gad\u00adgets in exchange for screws via their shop between stages. Sav\u00ading all col\u00adlect\u00aded screws when pur\u00adchas\u00ading cer\u00adtain items is a smart move. <\/span><\/p>\n

The graph\u00adics in Mega Man 9 are 8\u2011bit qual\u00adi\u00adty and nos\u00adtal\u00adgic, which I com\u00admend Cap\u00adcom for doing. It looks like Mega Man of yes\u00adter\u00adyear, which is always a good thing. The music was also a win since it stayed with each stage\u2019s design. <\/span><\/p>\n

I felt that as an old\u00ader gamer, Mega Man 9 was not only sim\u00adple, but also fun. I didn\u2019t have to wor\u00adry about time lim\u00adits or oth\u00ader friv\u00ado\u00adlous things that would induce rage quit\u00adting. Every\u00adthing was Mega Man ori\u00adent\u00aded, just as it should be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mega Man 9 is a game for not only Mega Man fans, but also for those who want to expe\u00adri\u00adence 8\u2011bit gam\u00ading on a next gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion con\u00adsole. Who\u00adev\u00ader said that gam\u00ading clas\u00adsics can\u2019t keep atten\u00adtion like new\u00ader triple\u2011A titles obvi\u00adous\u00adly have not played a clas\u00adsic series like Mega Man and cer\u00adtain\u00adly haven\u2019t run into Mega Man 9. <\/span>
