Like father, like son<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t believe there is any\u00adone who reads GI<\/span> who doesn\u2019t know that I don\u2019t care for Don\u00adkey Kong. By now, it should be painful\u00adly obvi\u00adous that I don\u2019t care for the simian\u2019s retro exploits or his more recent out\u00adings, either. It\u2019s not that I don\u2019t respect what the great ape has done for gam\u00ading; it\u2019s more that I feel he gets cred\u00adit for mediocre-to-hor\u00adri\u00adble games. Don\u00adkey Kong Jr. falls on the low\u00ader end of the spectrum.
\nMuch the same tripe as the orig\u00adi\u00adnal, you\u2019re tasked with sav\u00ading some\u00adone by mov\u00ading across hell and high water. But wait, this time it\u2019s dif\u00adfer\u00adent! No, you aren\u2019t sav\u00ading Pauline this time around; no, you\u2019re Don\u00adkey Kong Jr., the scion of Kong\u00addom sav\u00ading your incor\u00adri\u00adgi\u00adble father from the clutch\u00ades of evil human Mario. The fact that anoth\u00ader ape has to save his parental fig\u00adure from Mario in a com\u00adplete role rever\u00adsal begs sev\u00ader\u00adal ques\u00adtions: Where was Junior when his father was kid\u00adnap\u00adping inno\u00adcent maid\u00adens and run\u00adning ram\u00adpant? Why would Mario even both\u00ader to kid\u00adnap the great ape in the first place? Sure, there\u2019s the motive of revenge, but you\u2019re nev\u00ader going to get your ques\u00adtion answered, try as you might. You just have to accept that DK<\/span> needs sav\u00ading and it\u2019s up to you, his reli\u00adable off\u00adspring, to do the job.
\nHop\u00ading that your adven\u00adture in sav\u00ading your father is worth it, the game tasks you in uti\u00adliz\u00ading a jump\u00ading and climb\u00ading mechan\u00adic that may or may not work, depend\u00ading on where you are height wise. Any fall more than a few pix\u00adels high will kill you, which makes about as much sense as the kid\u00adnap\u00adping caper you seem to be embroiled in. Who\u00adev\u00ader had the bright idea to make jump\u00ading a chore and maneu\u00adver\u00ading your ape around impos\u00adsi\u00adble obvi\u00adous\u00adly didn\u2019t get that this was a bad design deci\u00adsion imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly. See\u00ading as though they are the only skills your ape has, it would have been a lit\u00adtle bit wis\u00ader to make those work well.
\nInstead, you\u2019ll watch Junior repeat\u00aded\u00adly get eat\u00aden alive by croc\u00ado\u00addiles (we\u2019re not sure why a plumber would employ these dan\u00adger\u00adous live crea\u00adtures to kill an ape), nailed by ran\u00addom falling objects and fall to his obvi\u00adous and hor\u00adrif\u00adic death, all because he\u2019s under\u00adde\u00advel\u00adoped at jump\u00ading and climbing.
\nAnd while you\u2019re wit\u00adness\u00ading this obvi\u00adous act of poach\u00ading, it\u2019d be wise to use some head\u00adphones. The music, much like the orig\u00adi\u00adnal game, isn\u2019t the great\u00adest and it will get monot\u00ado\u00adnous imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly. Don\u00adkey Kong Coun\u00adtry this isn\u2019t.
\nYour best bet is to try the game just for the nos\u00adtal\u00adgic fac\u00adtor in see\u00ading a pret\u00adty rare char\u00adac\u00adter; Junior was last seen, by my count, in Super Mario Kart for the SNES<\/span>. He isn\u2019t putting in too many oth\u00ader appear\u00adances and maybe, just maybe, it was this trip out of the jun\u00adgle that con\u00advinced him to let his father do all of the adven\u00adtur\u00ading in the fam\u00adi\u00adly. This bar\u00adrel isn\u2019t full of laughs or a blast.<\/p>\n
