Kon\u00ada\u00admi cre\u00adat\u00aded the Dance Dance Rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-593\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Lyndsey-EIC-2020-300x150.png\" alt width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Lyndsey-EIC-2020-300x150.png 300w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Lyndsey-EIC-2020-500x250.png 500w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Lyndsey-EIC-2020.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\">series in 1998 and by 2002, there were at least six entries in the main series. I\u2019d gath\u00ader that this meant <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> was pret\u00adty pop\u00adu\u00adlar, but you would nev\u00ader hear Kon\u00ada\u00admi say that too loud. At some point, how\u00adev\u00ader, some\u00adone real\u00adized the mag\u00adic that was <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> need\u00aded to come into the mod\u00adern era. So, every\u00adthing that was relat\u00aded to the first five entries in the series \u2014 with the excep\u00adtion of the song wheel and dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty cat\u00ade\u00adgories \u2014 was thrown out in favor of a com\u00adplete over\u00adhaul. <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> Max was the result and with it comes a mixed bag of mod\u00adern and old&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-591\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Score-4-retrograde.jpg\" alt width=\"90\" height=\"148\">Graph\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly, Max rep\u00adre\u00adsents the begin\u00adning of a new era. Sure, it resem\u00adbles cur\u00adrent <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> games because they use the song wheel, but the col\u00adors became a lit\u00adtle brighter and the lit\u00adtle touch\u00ades used to illus\u00adtrate the dif\u00adfer\u00adent dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adties and cat\u00ade\u00adgories are empha\u00adsized more. The inter\u00adface is much eas\u00adi\u00ader to read, though the addi\u00adtion of the Groove Radar still has some ways to go here. It\u2019s not exact\u00adly help\u00adful in pro\u00advid\u00ading digestible infor\u00adma\u00adtion that helps make quick informed deci\u00adsions. That\u2019s a com\u00adplaint that still stands today, so much so that I <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-643\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/japan-150x150.png\" alt width=\"86\" height=\"86\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/japan-150x150.png 150w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/japan.png 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 86px) 100vw, 86px\">tend to ignore the meter alto\u00adgeth\u00ader. Also, the foot rat\u00ading is miss\u00ading and song dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty rat\u00ading num\u00adbers have yet to come (that\u2019s not until Max 2). But the song wheel has been fresh\u00adened up so it looks a lot bet\u00adter and is a lit\u00adtle more palatable.<\/p>\n<p>Musi\u00adcal\u00adly, the selec\u00adtion is among the best in the series. The one thing about Max that\u2019s notable about the music is the lack of a Para\u00adnoia mix. For a series trade\u00admark song, its absence is imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly notice\u00adable, and quite frankly, drags the mix down a few notch\u00ades. There\u2019s a few throw <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-644\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DDR-Max-20-300x169.png\" alt width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DDR-Max-20-300x169.png 300w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DDR-Max-20-768x432.png 768w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DDR-Max-20-500x281.png 500w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/DDR-Max-20.png 854w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\">away songs like Share My Love and Dive, but over\u00adall it\u2019s quite a few excel\u00adlent choic\u00ades thrown togeth\u00ader to make a good song list. The vari\u00adety is nice and it feels like a good fresh start for a series that had a lot of repeats in the first five&nbsp;games.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t go back and play 6<span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span> Mix often, most\u00adly because I can\u2019t deal with a lack of Para\u00adnoia in my life at this point. As a <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> old head and one who owns the Amer\u00adi\u00adcan ver\u00adsion as well as the Japan\u00adese ver\u00adsion, I applaud the change up that Kon\u00ada\u00admi pur\u00adsued. It was a bold move that paid off in the long run: <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> still looks like a lot like this form, even with at least eight more games under its belt as a series. Some\u00adtimes, a change in pace is need\u00aded to keep the dance groove going.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DDR Max JP -- 2Q2015 issue\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nirr98TpleQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>DanceDance Rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion trivia<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>* <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> Max is the first game to fea\u00adture a 10-foot dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty song. Max 300 was offi\u00adcial\u00adly the first 10-foot\u00ader in the his\u00adto\u00adry of the series, though it would\u00adn\u2019t receive its offi\u00adcial rat\u00ading until Max 2 was released.<\/p>\n<p>* Max 300, the boss song of the mix, fea\u00adtures 573 steps in its Heavy dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty chart. 573 is known as the Kon\u00ada\u00admi num\u00adber, a num\u00adber that relates to the roman\u00adized pro\u00adnun\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion of the com\u00adpa\u00adny\u2019s&nbsp;name.<\/p>\n<p>* Max is the first <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> game to fea\u00adture the Light\/Standard\/Heavy dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty scheme, dance point sys\u00adtem, speed mods, Extra Stage\/One More Extra Stage and freeze arrows. The dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty scheme would stay in place until the release of <span class=\"caps\">DDR<\/span> Super\u00adNO\u00adVA in&nbsp;2006.<\/p>\n<p>* Two songs intro\u00adduced in the mix, Flash in the Night and Fol\u00adlow Me, are the only two songs in the series that do not have an offi\u00adcial foot rat\u00ading. These two songs were intro\u00adduced in 6<span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span> Mix, which is the only mix that does not use the foot rat\u00ading sys\u00adtem.
