I under\u00adstand that a lot of peo\u00adple may be won\u00adder\u00ading why it\u2019s not called Robot\u00adech. Well, let\u2019s just stick with the ver\u00adsion that was released in Japan. The fun\u00adny thing is, this game was actu\u00adal\u00adly sched\u00aduled for an Amer\u00adi\u00adcan release but was lat\u00ader can\u00adceled because of the \u201ccre\u00adator\u201d of the Robot\u00adech series. His demands were a bit on the ridicu\u00adlous side and rather than bow to him, Big West\/Bandai Visu\u00adal (before it merged with Nam\u00adco) made sure that the Amer\u00adi\u00adcan release nev\u00ader saw the light of day.<\/span><\/p>\n

But if you knew the right places to go and were will\u00ading to pay the price, you could have your very own copy like I do. It\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve been able to play it, but this is still one of the best games I have played in a long time and the fan boy in me was all over this when I saw it in an import store in Greenville, S.C. I fell in love with Macross VF-X2<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

VF-X2<\/span> is a flight-style com\u00adbat shoot\u00ader with a bit of an arcade feel to it, loads of fun and not too bad of a sto\u00adry to add to the Macross uni\u00adverse. You are Arges Fock\u00ader, rook\u00adie pilot who joins <\/span>the U.N. Spa\u00adcy and is short\u00adly recruit\u00aded to the Raven Fight\u00ading Squadron. You bat\u00adtle through sev\u00ader\u00adal mis\u00adsions, pilot\u00ading sev\u00ader\u00adal of the vari\u00adable fight\u00aders from the orig\u00adi\u00adnal Valkyre to the VF-22<\/span> (Macross plus YF-21<\/span>: The 21 was des\u00adig\u00adnat\u00aded the 22 to hon\u00ador Guld Goa Bow\u00adman after his death). <\/span><\/p>\n

The game plays very well and the sounds and effects will put you in the right frame of mind of the Macross series, but, unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly, it does have a few bugs.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the main bugs occurs when you beat the game: The clos\u00ading cin\u00ade\u00admat\u00adic glitch\u00ades and plays for two frames then either freezes or boots you to the cred\u00adits screen. That\u2019s heart\u00adbreak\u00ading because it kind of ruins that whole sat\u00adis\u00adfac\u00adtion of beat\u00ading the game. The game is sol\u00adid as a whole, but the glitch\u00ades kind of cut into the fun. If you love Robotech\/Macross, don\u2019t let the glitch\u00ades keep you from a sol\u00adid rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive in the series.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
