It has been edit\u00aded for spelling, gram\u00admar and clarity.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n There are those of us who love games and com\u00adic books, and then there\u2019s those of us who love the Ver\u00adsus fight\u00ading game series. I\u2019m firm\u00adly in the camp that loves the Ver\u00adsus series with pas\u00adsion. Some games more than oth\u00aders attack my heart, but I real\u00adly appre\u00adci\u00adate the depth and intri\u00adca\u00adcy that can be found in Mar\u00advel char\u00adac\u00adters team\u00ading up to fight along\u00adside or against each oth\u00ader or Cap\u00adcom char\u00adac\u00adters. Out of all the series\u2019 offer\u00adings, I seem to derive the most plea\u00adsure from Mar\u00advel vs. Capcom.<\/span><\/p>\n Of the var\u00adi\u00adous ver\u00adsions of the game out on the mar\u00adket, this newest ver\u00adsion belongs in the pre\u00admier ech\u00ade\u00adlon of treat\u00adment. It\u2019s pack\u00adaged with Mar\u00advel Super Heroes \u2015 the sec\u00adond game in the series \u2015 and gives some of the new\u00ader gamers the back\u00adground nec\u00ades\u00adsary to ful\u00adly under\u00adstand what\u2019s being dan\u00adgled in front of them today with Ulti\u00admate Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom 3. True, there isn\u2019t an excess of 56 char\u00adac\u00adters or the gaudi\u00adness of X\u2011Factor as a draw, but the foun\u00adda\u00adtion and the buildup on that foun\u00adda\u00adtion are present through both games and that\u2019s what mat\u00adters when you want to learn where a fran\u00adchise comes from.<\/span><\/p>\n If you\u2019re a purist in terms of the struc\u00adture of the game, this is a ver\u00adsion that deserves a purist\u2019s crit\u00adi\u00adcal eye. The game\u00adplay in both games is per\u00adfect. It\u2019s as smooth an expe\u00adri\u00adence as putting in quar\u00adters at an arcade and play\u00ading to your heart\u2019s con\u00adtent. Moves work the way they should, and com\u00adbos can be pulled off very well. Game\u00adplay quirks \u2015 such as Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom\u2019s frus\u00adtrat\u00ading dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty in the arcade mode \u2015 are still there, but that should\u00adn\u2019t be a deter\u00adrent to the over\u00adall expe\u00adri\u00adence. And for me, it was\u00adn\u2019t. I picked it up and played Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly as if it were the Dream\u00adcast ver\u00adsion, which is also an arcade-per\u00adfect port. \nBecause these are arcade-per\u00adfect ren\u00addi\u00adtions of the games, the music and graph\u00adics are pret\u00adty much the same, too. There are a few options added for the view, and I must applaud the cre\u00adation of the chal\u00adlenge side\u00adbar that can be turned on or off for both games. It\u2019s a neat way to keep abreast of progress in the games\u2019 accom\u00adplish\u00adments, and the view doesn\u2019t get in the way of the game\u00adplay. If you con\u00adsid\u00ader your\u00adself a fight\u00ading game effec\u00adtor and you loved the Ver\u00adsus series, you\u2019re prob\u00ada\u00adbly going to love this. It\u2019s espe\u00adcial\u00adly poignant to be able to play the ear\u00adly entries in the series now that con\u00adsoles and fight\u00ading games have moved on from this style of play. It\u2019s easy to for\u00adget about the prog\u00aden\u00adi\u00adtors of a series when there\u2019s fresh blood in town. Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom Ori\u00adgins some\u00adhow man\u00adages to bring back famil\u00adiar game\u00adplay while retelling its ori\u00adgin sto\u00adry to a new\u00ader generation.<\/span><\/p>\n
