It has been edit\u00aded for spelling, gram\u00admar and clarity.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">I usu\u00adal\u00adly have a gen\u00aduine prob\u00adlem with Cap\u00adcom\u2019s release pol\u00adi\u00adcy for its fight\u00ading games. Gen\u00ader\u00adal\u00adly, I know to expect a revi\u00adsion edi\u00adtion lat\u00ader down the line that adds maybe a few char\u00adac\u00adters and few new back\u00adgrounds. Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom 3 was no dif\u00adfer\u00adent. I knew what was com\u00ading and, sure enough, Cap\u00adcom played its hand with Ulti\u00admate. Curi\u00adous\u00adly, this is a decent play, though like all Cap\u00adcom releas\u00ades, it should have come right at the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Ulti\u00admate picks up the slack where vanil\u00adla left off. You\u2019re still sav\u00ading the Earth from Galac\u00adtus and the basic look of the game is still the same. Except, there\u2019s a few new bells and whis\u00adtles thrown in for good mea\u00adsure. The new intro throws a fresh coat of paint on the pro\u00adceed\u00adings. The intro is gor\u00adgeous, with a freeze-frame look at var\u00adi\u00adous bat\u00adtles between Mar\u00advel and Cap\u00adcom char\u00adac\u00adters around the city. There are also a few new back\u00adgrounds, though I wish there were more. I par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly loved the new Days of Future Past back\u00adground with the want\u00aded poster of the X\u2011Men arc cov\u00ader re-done with char\u00adac\u00adters\u2019 sta\u00adtus from both sides. And, no, Mega Man\u2019s ques\u00adtion\u00adable sta\u00adtus did not escape my notice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1470\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50.png\" alt width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50.png 1600w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50-300x169.png 300w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50-1024x576.png 1024w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50-768x432.png 768w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50-1536x864.png 1536w, http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Ultimate-Marvel-vs-Capcom-3-50-500x281.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\"><br>\n<span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The new char\u00adac\u00adters added to both sides are eas\u00adi\u00adly the best rea\u00adson to pick up the new ver\u00adsion. There are 12 new (Phoenix Wright, Fire\u00adbrand, Frank West, Neme\u00adsis T\u2011Type, Strid\u00ader Hiryu and Vergil for Cap\u00adcom; Doc\u00adtor Strange, Rock\u00adet Rac\u00adcoon, Nova, Iron Fist, Hawk\u00adeye and Ghost Rid\u00ader for Mar\u00advel) with the <span class=\"caps\">DLC<\/span> add-ons of Jill Valen\u00adtine and Shu\u00adma-Gorath still avail\u00adable and Galac\u00adtus made playable through an offline mode. Play\u00ading through once more is inter\u00adest\u00ading, just to see how the new char\u00adac\u00adters work with\u00adin the bal\u00adance of the game at large. Speak\u00ading of bal\u00adance, new moves have been giv\u00aden to the old\u00ader char\u00adac\u00adters as well as some tweaks to their movesets and the over\u00adall game engine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Prob\u00ada\u00adbly the biggest addi\u00adtion aside from the char\u00adac\u00adters is Heroes and Her\u00adalds mode. Basi\u00adcal\u00adly, you choose a fac\u00adtion \u2014 Heroes, who will oppose Galac\u00adtus; or Her\u00adalds a la Sil\u00adver Surfer, who work to soft\u00aden up the earth for the plan\u00adet-devour\u00ading god \u2014 and fight through stages of vary\u00ading dif\u00adfi\u00adcul\u00adty. As you fight, you acquire abil\u00adi\u00adty cards that are used to form a deck. The cards apply spe\u00adcial attrib\u00adut\u00ades to your team mem\u00adbers or to the game itself. It\u2019s a nov\u00adel and well-exe\u00adcut\u00aded idea and one that makes sense in the larg\u00ader scheme of Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom. I\u2019m sur\u00adprised it was\u00adn\u2019t thought of until now, and I\u2019m even more sur\u00adprised that it\u2019s not in more Cap\u00adcom&nbsp;games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-588\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Score-3-5-retrograde.jpg\" alt width=\"90\" height=\"148\">Ulti\u00admate Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom 3 isn\u2019t the fresh\u00adest idea out of Cap\u00adcom\u2019s camp, but it has quite a bit going for it to war\u00adrant a pur\u00adchase. While it\u2019s too much con\u00adtent to be <span class=\"caps\">DLC<\/span> only, it\u2019s a shame that full price was charged for it when it was released. Cap\u00adcom man\u00adaged to dodge the usu\u00adal shenani\u00adgans it\u2019s known for with Street Fight\u00ader, but it cut it close.
