X marks the spot with fan\u00adtas\u00adtic third entry in Ver\u00adsus series<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you ready, True Believ\u00aders? In keep\u00ading pace with this issue\u2019s trib\u00adute to Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom, I\u2019m intro\u00adduc\u00ading anoth\u00ader game that helped make this series renowned by com\u00adic book afi\u00adciona\u00addos and fight\u00ading games fans alike. Yep, you bet your excel\u00adsior prayers, this is X\u2011Men vs. Street Fighter.<\/span><\/p>\n

X\u2011Men vs. Street Fight\u00ader take place two years after the release of X\u2011Men: Chil\u00addren of the Atom and Mar\u00advel Super Heroes. The back\u00adsto\u00adry is a leg\u00adendary X\u2011Men vil\u00adlain, Apoc\u00ada\u00adlypse, appears stat\u00ading that Earth\u00ad\u2019s sur\u00advival depends on only the strongest being able to sur\u00advive. Lit\u00adtle does Apoc\u00ada\u00adlypse know, M. Bison and Shadaloo as well as Mag\u00adne\u00adto and the Broth\u00ader\u00adhood of Mutants have their own plans for Earth. The X\u2011Men along with var\u00adi\u00adous Street Fight\u00aders hear this and now a bat\u00adtle with high stakes for Earth begins with unlike\u00adly teams bat\u00adtling against Apocalypse. <\/span><\/p>\n

The con\u00adtrols are the usu\u00adal set up in any Cap\u00adcom fight\u00ading game, only this time you have con\u00adtrol of two char\u00adac\u00adters that can con\u00adsist of any X\u2011Men or Street Fight\u00ader char\u00adac\u00adter. I enjoyed the abil\u00adi\u00adty to mix an X\u2011Men and a Street Fight\u00ader char\u00adac\u00adter togeth\u00ader as a team. X\u2011Men vs. SF<\/span> also fea\u00adtures the super jump and aer\u00adi\u00adal rave from COTA<\/span> but intro\u00adduces three fea\u00adtures: the Hyper Com\u00adbo Gauge, which allows for super moves; the Vari\u00adable Com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion, which allows both char\u00adac\u00adters to exe\u00adcute their Hyper Com\u00adbos; and, the Vari\u00adable Counter allows you to pull off an offen\u00adsive attack from a defen\u00adsive block sim\u00adply by tag\u00adging your off\u00adscreen part\u00adner. These new moves and fea\u00adtures great\u00adly increase the playa\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty from the pre\u00advi\u00adous games and make X\u2011Men vs. Street Fight\u00ader a bet\u00adter play\u00ading game.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe graph\u00adics and pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion are like COTA<\/span> and MSH<\/span>, bear\u00ading strik\u00ading resem\u00adblance in arcade qual\u00adi\u00adty. I enjoyed the scenery and bright back\u00adgrounds that took out guess\u00adwork of my point char\u00adac\u00adter and the visu\u00adal theme of each stage. The music is ener\u00adgetic and on point thanks to Cap\u00adcom\u2019s sound team work\u00ading their awe\u00adsome wizardry. <\/span><\/p>\n

While it\u2019s fun to play, I do have some gripes. While I enjoyed the over\u00adall game\u00adplay, I did\u00adn\u2019t like the heavy reliance on touch-of-death com\u00adbos and infin\u00adites. Also, while the music was enjoy\u00adable, the reuse of Street Fight\u00ader\u2019s char\u00adac\u00adter themes was kind of bor\u00ading and lazy. Yes, I real\u00adize they want\u00aded to use some\u00adthing that is eas\u00adi\u00adly rec\u00adog\u00adniz\u00adable but some\u00adtimes I think they rely on it too much and it\u2019s obvi\u00adous here. My last gripe is Aku\u00adma. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019m not hat\u00ading on the OG<\/span>, but come on Cap\u00adcom, Aku\u00adma is pushed on every ear\u00adly Mar\u00advel Ver\u00adsus game like he\u2019s a main play\u00ader in the MCU<\/span>. That\u2019s overkill and too much use of the Red Demon will force pay\u00ading clien\u00adtele to think about spend\u00ading mon\u00adey on future games where he is run\u00adning amok. Mod\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, Cap\u00adcom. Mod\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, please.<\/span><\/p>\n

X\u2011Men vs. Street Fight\u00ader is enjoy\u00adable and helped estab\u00adlish the trend of com\u00adic books meet\u00ading fight\u00ading games. As Mar\u00advel and Cap\u00adcom were the pio\u00adneers, oth\u00ader com\u00adic book com\u00adpa\u00adnies and game devel\u00adop\u00aders fol\u00adlowed suit, mak\u00ading it nor\u00admal for the gam\u00ading indus\u00adtry. This is a good ori\u00adgin sto\u00adry for the Ver\u00adsus series.<\/span><\/p>\n
