Cap\u00adcom likes to keep cer\u00adtain stan\u00addards for their famous fight\u00ading titles that car\u00adry over from one fight\u00ader to the next. There will be col\u00ador\u00adful supers, tight-yet-famil\u00adiar con\u00adtrols and fast paced action. Mar\u00advel Super Heroes is no excep\u00adtion to this. <\/span><\/p>\n Fol\u00adlow\u00ading the still-pop\u00adu\u00adlar X\u2011Men: Chil\u00addren of the Atom in art style and game\u00adplay, Cap\u00adcom has allowed oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties to pum\u00admel your oppo\u00adnents to con\u00adtin\u00adue by launch\u00ading them in the air for that super\u00adhero-type feel. Some of Mar\u00advel\u2019s famous heroes and vil\u00adlains appear so you, the true believ\u00aders, can give swift jus\u00adtice over your foes. Use Cap\u00adtain Amer\u00adi\u00adca, Spi\u00adder-Man, Iron Man, Jug\u00adger\u00adnaut and Mag\u00adne\u00adto to fight your way to Thanos. While on your way, be sure to pick up and use the Infin\u00adi\u00adty Gems you find. You may need them.<\/span><\/p>\n Not all is per\u00adfect in this entry. The music in the game does\u00adn\u2019t stand out but the upbeat tem\u00adpo of each stage helps you stay in the action. Also, the game may slow to a crawl depend\u00ading on the gem effects if both char\u00adac\u00adters are using them at the same time. Some\u00adtimes the game is so slow that a full sec\u00adond will go by before your char\u00adac\u00adter reacts to your but\u00adton com\u00admands. But this slow\u00addown is rare.<\/span><\/p>\n I still enjoy this game. Despite the game\u2019s occa\u00adsion\u00adal prob\u00adlems, I remem\u00adber my friend Ted King and I going to the local depart\u00adment store in my home\u00adtown and play\u00ading it for hours. Once it was released for home con\u00adsoles, we played it even more. The zany com\u00adbos that one can do are almost lim\u00adit\u00adless. In some skilled play\u00ader\u2019s hands, they are lim\u00adit\u00adless because of infi\u00adnite com\u00adbos that near\u00adly every char\u00adac\u00adter had. That\u2019s anoth\u00ader stan\u00addard that Cap\u00adcom kept with their fighters. <\/span><\/p>\n Mar\u00advel Super Heroes paved the way for the famous Ver\u00adsus series of which Cap\u00adcom is very proud. And they should be proud. With games like Mar\u00advel vs. Street Fight\u00ader, the Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom series and the Cap\u00adcom vs. SNK<\/span> entries, few oth\u00ader com\u00adpa\u00adnies have been suc\u00adcess\u00adful in cre\u00adat\u00ading a more pop\u00adu\u00adlar series that mil\u00adlions enjoy to date. And now with the announce\u00adment of Mar\u00advel vs. Cap\u00adcom 3, I\u2019m going to play them all until it is released.<\/span><\/p>\n If you want a fight\u00ader that you can pick up and play with lit\u00adtle knowl\u00adedge about Street Fight\u00ader, Mar\u00advel Super Heroes is it. If you want to make cre\u00adative com\u00adbos, look no fur\u00adther. The graph\u00adics may have evolved, and the Mar\u00advel license revert\u00aded sev\u00ader\u00adal times, but one thing remains the same: Fight\u00ading with super\u00adheroes of the Mar\u00advel ilk is fun. <\/span><\/p>\n Mar\u00advel Super Heroes neat\u00adly upgrad\u00aded the expe\u00adri\u00adence of X\u2011Men: Chil\u00addren of the Atom. With a more acces\u00adsi\u00adble com\u00adbo sys\u00adtem and bet\u00adter play feel, Mar\u00advel Super Heroes is almost a dream to play, even by mod\u00adern stan\u00addards. There are still prob\u00adlems, though, such as touch-of-death com\u00adbos for every\u00adone and a lim\u00adit\u00aded ros\u00adter imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly made obso\u00adlete by suc\u00adces\u00adsive games. But Mar\u00advel Super Heroes is still playable, and there\u2019s still a scene in 2026, so Cap\u00adcom got some\u00adthing right. <\/span><\/p>\n Score: 3.5 out of 5<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe con\u00adtrols and game\u00adplay are what I con\u00adsid\u00ader clas\u00adsic for any 2D<\/span> Street Fight\u00ader. The main dif\u00adfer\u00adence in this game comes from Infin\u00adi\u00adty Gems. Each gem has the poten\u00adtial to unlock spe\u00adcial abil\u00adi\u00adties for a hero. For exam\u00adple, if Mag\u00adne\u00adto uses the Space Gem, he pro\u00adduces a force field and he will not take dam\u00adage for a lim\u00adit\u00aded time. In each match, the AI<\/span> oppo\u00adnent will have a gem with them. You must kick, punch or stare hard at them to take it.<\/span><\/p>\n
