In 1993, Sony was one of the few multi\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal com\u00adpa\u00adnies that had own\u00ader\u00adship of well-known Hol\u00adly\u00adwood stu\u00addios. Sony owned Tri-Star Pic\u00adtures, which released the 1992 film Bram Stok\u00ader\u2019s Drac\u00adu\u00adla, based on the leg\u00adendary hor\u00adror sto\u00adry. Sony, known as Sony Image\u00adsoft at the time, had a strict hold on their movie busi\u00adness, which allowed them to devel\u00adop games based off their releas\u00ades on the box office front. Bram Stok\u00ader\u2019s Drac\u00adu\u00adla is one of those exam\u00adples that snuck onto the&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SNES<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Based on the movie, you play as Jonathan Hark\u00ader who must res\u00adcue his fianc\u00e9 Mina Mur\u00adray from Drac\u00adu\u00adla\u2019s clutch\u00ades. Good old Drac\u00adu\u00adla believes that Mina is a mod\u00adern rein\u00adcar\u00adna\u00adtion of his pre\u00advi\u00adous love Elis\u00ada\u00adbe\u00adta who was dri\u00adven to sui\u00adcide by Drac\u00adu\u00adla\u2019s ene\u00admies while he fought against the Ottoman empire in 1462. Deter\u00admined to have Mina by any means nec\u00ades\u00adsary, Drac\u00adu\u00adla begins his bat\u00adtle against Hark\u00ader with <span class=\"caps\">VERY<\/span> high stakes involved. The graph\u00adics of the game are stan\u00addard 16-bit, but Sony gets cred\u00adit for pair\u00ading details for each lev\u00adel with rec\u00adog\u00adniz\u00adable scenes from the film. Although the graph\u00adics made the game pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion campy, I thought the graph\u00adics stayed on task and did a ser\u00advice\u00adable&nbsp;job.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Con\u00adtrols to get Hark\u00ader around are the usu\u00adal fare for side scrollers on the <span class=\"caps\">SNES<\/span>. An ambi\u00adtious but under\u00adex\u00adplained mechan\u00adic is Hark\u00ader\u2019s abil\u00adi\u00adty to use var\u00adi\u00adous weapons that he can pick up along the way from Dr. Van Hels\u00ading, who shows up to help. The con\u00adtrols, while stan\u00addard, aren\u2019t the best; they need some work. Pre\u00adci\u00adsion jump\u00ading and slash\u00ading is hit or miss when I least need it to&nbsp;be.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1424\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Bram-Stokers-Dracula-09.png\" alt width=\"403\" height=\"327\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The game music is <span class=\"caps\">OK<\/span>, but the prob\u00adlem is it\u2019s repet\u00adi\u00adtive. If Sony owns the stu\u00addio that released the movie and its music was per\u00adfect, why not use that same sound team to work its mag\u00adic for the game? This is not an imme\u00addi\u00adate rea\u00adson to avoid play\u00ading it, but Sony <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-589\" src=\"http:\/\/gaminginsurrection.com\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Score-3-retrograde.jpg\" alt width=\"90\" height=\"148\">Image\u00adsoft could have done more for the game, espe\u00adcial\u00adly if it is based off a box office hit. My griev\u00adances for this game are small but even the small details in its devel\u00adop\u00adment can deter\u00admine its suc\u00adcess or fail\u00adure. Sony did not give prop\u00ader sup\u00adport in cru\u00adcial areas of the game\u2019s development.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Bram Stok\u00ader\u2019s Drac\u00adu\u00adla, despite lack of atten\u00adtion to detail in some areas, is a good game that pays trib\u00adute to the orig\u00adi\u00adnal work. The con\u00adtrols could use some work, and the sound\u00adtrack could be bet\u00adter, but the game works as a decent tie-in to the movie adap\u00adta\u00adtion.
